My BMW R1200R Classic |
Today is the day that I take delivery of my new BMW R1200R. I will not bore you the reader with all the detail of how I went about selecting this motorcycle suffice to say it was "an impulse purchase." Once I saw the classic black and white paintwork it stirred memories from my youth of how BMW's used to look and I had to have one.
Rynier from Hamman Motorrad educating me |
The nerve-wracking first ride from the showroom |
And traffic in Rondebosch just to make it exciting |
Rynier, Chris and John of Hamman Motorrad were fantastic, I think they may have been more nervous than I was taking delivery of my new motorcycle. (With hindsight, I really miss Hamman Motorrad and its good people, now that they are gone maybe my next motorcycle will be a Harley).
The M5 approaching Groote Schuur, Pinelands and Rondebosch.
Well, I think you all know the nervous feeling of taking delivery of a new motorcar from the showroom, when it comes to a motorcycle multiply by ten. Got home safely, 1200 a little bigger than the 650 but looking forward to many new roads, places and adventures.
